Looking for a therapist is a courageous decision and can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. I became a therapist because, just like you, I am human and have had my fair share of struggles and understand the stigma associated with mental health. My goal is to support your journey to heal by combining talk and art therapy services. In my practice, I mostly integrate techniques from Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy with Culturally Sensitive approaches.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and have a Masters Degree Counseling Psychology: Art Therapy, and BIPOC. Being a BIPOC therapist has given me opportunities to validate the impact of race and healing from racial trauma. I am queer, gay and non-binary allied. I believe creativity becomes the pathway to the expression of our inner feelings, leading to a process of self-discovery and understanding and becomes the process for emotional health.
Besides providing warmth, care and a pinch of humor, I use culturally sensitive and trauma aware approaches to create an atmosphere of safety and collaboration. I have a wide range of experience working with individuals across many ages and have specialized experience in working with:
I create a safe and affirming space for you to explore, connect, discover, and integrate concrete strategies into your life outside of the therapy space. The goal of art-making in psychotherapy is not what you are creating; it is the process of creating it that matters that improves one’s self-growth.
